The silly season is here! 🏖🍹🌞

It is summertime the weather is hot, the colleagues are on vacation, meetings end early, everyone goes to the pool… but you are the only one working? If yes, you are a poor guy. But the lucky side is, that you can enjoy one of the five websites, each of them has enough content for many summers.

Dilbert

Who does not know Dilbert, please stand up? I haven’t met anyone from IT who does not know Dilbert and the pointy-haired boss. Or Catbert, the Evil HR Director. Launched years ago, it is actually a page which I visit regularly. And for sometime now there is an inofficial Telegram channel.

Sometimes I feel really observed by Scott Adams, because the comics are to close to (my) reality & experience. My favorite? Hard to pick, but I guess the comic with the database. 😆

But since it is head on head with a blockchain related comic. I guess the blockchain chosen is mauve.

xkcd

xkcd is classic. Since 2005 Randall Munroe covers so many topics in comics with his unique style, so I stick to his description from the website: “A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.”.

And if are into science and like the entertaining approach of Randall, I can highly recommend the book What If?.

Comic Agile

The latest addition on my reading list is Comic Agile by Mikkel Noe-Nygaard and Luxshan Ratnaravi. It is about agility, Scrum, SAFe, products, developments, and related. Both authors have a huge background in software development and if you are lucky, you can meet them in real-life as well, since they are talking on conferences as well.

And just in case you missed it: you can buy their a excellent book and enjoy the comics offline at the beach 🏖 or the bar with a cocktail.🍹

Agile Drill Sergeant

Long time before Comic Agile was the Agile Drill Sergeant by Robert Finan. Yes, for the pacifist among us, the name could be maybe not that attractive, but give it a chance. Robert has a long background in IT and the comic itself is sometimes only a painted image of reality. 😱

And doesn’t this remind you to some slide-decks for an agile transformation kick-offs? 😣

The Daily WTF?!

Best practices? Yes, they are good, but you won’t find them on The Daily WTF. Since 2004 and founded Alex Papadimoulis, “The Daily WTF is your how-not-to guide for developing software. We recount tales of disastrous development, from project management gone spectacularly bad to inexplicable coding choices.”. Sounds good? No, it is very good. Absolutely fantastic. 👏

One of my favorites is a The Enterprise Dependency. Maybe because it makes dizzy? 🤪

And if you want to find out, who is the source of this Zen-like prose, read this article about neural networks. I am sure, that GPT-3 does it better. 😂

The pig go. Go is to the fountain. The pig put foot. Grunt. Foot in what? ketchup. The dove fly. Fly is in sky. The dove drop something. The something on the pig. The pig disgusting. The pig rattle. Rattle with dove. The dove angry. The pig leave. The dove produce. Produce is chicken wing. With wing bark. No Quack.
